You don’t have to be an art major, but it is wise to understand the market and study the artist you are purchasing from. Art should change how you feel so seeing it in person for the first time is a big factor in determing if this is a good investment for you. The last aspect to consider is the size. You don’t want to buy something online and not have enough space for the art. Then you may be forced to sell it or put it in storage where humidity, dust, and other factors could devalue the art.
